TO BE
Dhruti Bodavula 8-1
Home is where the Heart is, so where is mine?
All I can do is sit there in Despair hoping for a sign that everything will be fine I look around and see the ruins around me, when oh when will we be free?
I wait for another day reminiscing a time when the clouds weren't crying, when the birds were singing and the grass was evergreen, instead filling my ears are the sounds of a mean machine
So when this war finally comes to a halt I hope to have many more laughs with my loved ones and once again roam my home with my heart filled with pure gold.
The Brutal Conflict
By: Rebekah Alwin, Duaa Muhammad Ali & Aleeza Aslam | Year 8-1
The sun is setting; my heart with it,
With the desire to quit the task I have to commit,
With no idea of what would happen to me,
My friends and family, this I plea.
“The deed I’m doing is to bring back peace,
But they don’t often come back in one piece.
If there is a misfire while loading the canons,
Just know that I’m with you through whatever happens.”
Those were the final words of a brave man before a brutal war,
But was it worth the pain of losing a life forevermore?
Is war the answer to this worldly problem?
Isn’t there another way to bring peace with a different outcome?
This is all I have to ask:
Can we put an end to this never-ending task?
Now it’s up to us to make a change,
And say it is time for the world to rearrange.
Child of War
Mihira Hariharan 8-1
I am a child of war, I don’t have a home anymore.
My family is separated, while our enemy is celebrated.
I am cold and scared, I am in despair.
I am deprived of education; all I feel is frustration.
Discovering peace is a dream, all I can do is scream.
My heart and mind are hollow, all I can do is swallow and follow.
I am a broken child of war, who fully supports anti-war!!!
