Checkmate We are a lot like chess pieces. The daft struggling to keep up with the smarter, Making us look inferior to one another. We are like pawns. Useless and used. Sacrificing us as sheep, part of a strategy to create a monopoly. Each of us trying to renew ourselves like helpless pawns going up the board. The school's control over us is going up like bishops going up and across. Doing the same every day, routine schedule like a factory worker. Trying to hang on to each other, supporting ourselves. Every mark count, no less than a move in chess. Trying our best to achieve our dreams.
To dethrone the king and achieve, The checkmate. -Manas Lodha, Kaustav…
Identity
Who am I, who are you?
Who is he, who is she?
Who are they? Who are we?
One can only guess the mysteries of the universe
But what then? If one takes our identity
Who are we?
Who am I, who are you?
Who is tom, who is martha?
Who is bob, jim and timmy? Who are we?
You do your thing
I do mine
You are you
I am I
I am what what I am
You are what you are
We are what we are
No one can change that
Who am I?
Well let me notify
I’m just a simple humble homo sapiens
I’m neither an extra-terrestrial nor an alien
Instead I’m an ordinary mammalian
The Story of The Black Man (Poem Written by Omar & Cayden)
1 I want to feel like a bird
2 I want to Fly
3 But I am currently about to die
4 My “people” are on their way
5 To never again see the light of day
6 No water, No Love, No sleep
7 There is nothing to eat
8 We always get beat
9 There is no way to flee
10 Our inferior destiny
11 We are slaves
12 We are butlers
13 Yet we cannot even afford to shave
14 Native Americans are white
15 Native Americans are Bright
16 While Non-Native Americans-
17 Don’t even get told hello
18 While others glow

Who Am I? -by Yash Vijay
Who am I?
What am I?
Where am I?
Are some of the questions I ask myself at times.
They say you should be yourself.
But what would society have to say,
About the true nature of myself.
Would you rather be a pretty flower,
Binded to its pot of dirt?
Or an ugly, unsightly weed,
freely growing anywhere on earth?
Will I let society determine who I am?
Or express who I want to be,
In the truest way I can?
I look up sometimes,
at the birds soaring through the sky
wishing I could spread my wings,
and freely and endlessly fly,
I want to become my true self,
I want to…
