Courage can only be in one’s self.
It can’t be bought or given.
Like in this pandemic, courage is important.
The way infected people fight covid surprises me.
The amount of courage in those people amazes me.
Wearing masks and gloves and not able to meet friends.
Talking from distances far and wide.
Keeping hopes high and low.
Can’t take it anymore.
Not able to travel.
Surely courage can only be found within.

Courage
When your fear is here,
And you're crying a tear,
Terrified like you're in an attacked country's frontier,
It's massive and strong, you can't call it mere.
Oh, why, why, why won't this end,
It's OK to express, you don't need to pretend,
Can't take it anymore, sweating, shivering and jumping off your skin, you need to defend,
Can't take it anymore, this traumatising tension, wish there's someone I could trust, like a friend.
Now, this is enough, you should stand and face,
The deepest, darkest, dreadful fears haunting as strong as a mace,
If you're scared, the fears will petrify you more, you're wasting your days,
Scare the fears back, start…
Aliza Siddiqui | Poem on Courage | Year 7/7 'The Courage Of A Hatter' As I stood there disorientated
A burning fire raged
It burned with intensity
Yet, I felt a feeling of complete peculiarity
If only can someone feel that feeling of ecstasy?
I took of my caramel colored hat
Sat on the parakeet colored grass
Stared through Alice’s looking glass
And pondered, pondered, pondered
The little fire burned in my top hat head
But there I stood with dread
No answer, no clue
I was lost, but I continued the pursuit
For the burning sensation of knowledge
Not once seized, and so for the fact I could acknowledge
I must continue
For a hidden force drove me forward
To…

The Barrier
I trembled and shivered
I kept my mouth shut and still quivered
The voices cried in my head
All the tears that I had shed
The barrier held me back
I was filled with fear
Why did confusion suddenly appear?
Darkness and sorrow are what I saw
Where was the actual flaw?
But still, the barrier took me back
Bit by bit I dropped my fear
I started looking at something clear
I started looking at something new
‘Trying’ was now the goal to pursue
This time no barrier sent me back
Looking forward, stepping toward
I fought like a knight with my sword
I faced my fear with might
And this time…

It Takes Courage
Courage is the small voice
That’s heard in the back of your head
It tells you make the choice
When you were afraid to try, it said
It takes courage
Have you ever wondered
How to smile in the darkest times?
Have you ever pondered
How some people admit their crimes?
It takes courage
Life isn’t so breezy
Regret haunts you at its utmost
It is not so easy
To face our darkest fears and ghosts
It takes courage
Well known heroes are people too
So how do they do it
Change from people like me and you
Develop such resilience and grit
It takes courage
How to not be pushed around
How…
