Year 7 have been working on the poem The Poison Tree by William Blake. It uses the metaphor of a tree to show the way that feelings of anger can grow if they are not discussed with the person who made us angry. The challenge is to write a metaphorical poem of your own using The Poison Tree as inspiration for a growing emotion.
The Easy-going Strange At
Greenway - A Narrative Poem
By: Abir El Mchrafi 7-4
One day at a food shop, I met a man selling burgers, For money he wanted to swap, But I really wanted some burghers. "Got any burghers?" asked I. "For that's how I'll spend my money." "No burghers here!" said the guy. He seemed to find it quite funny. "We've got some lovely pies, I'll give you a very fine price." "I'd rather have some disguise." The man blinked rapidly thrice. The man seemed exceptionally chatty, And his manner was strangely amused. He wasn't what I would call scatty, Great disdain he noticeably oozed. Like others, he thought I was odd, Some say I'm a bit tall. Still he gave me a courteous nod, As if he thought I was plenty cool. So in search of…
Earthquake
I was scared but I never really cared and so I was unprepared the ground started shacking and the earth was breaking and there I was aching I started running

Bitter Lies
By: Hamdah Faisal 7-3
Bitter Lies
Told my family, I
It was not sweet, nor sour
The pain of our
When my family
Discovered my bitter lie
My family stood there, withered
They could be anything, but dithered
Upon them bore a field of dark roses
Not bleached, yet bland
As dull as a night with no stars
Oh why did I tell,
This Bitter Lie

They stay with you till the end
They teach you how to walk
And yet, do you show them respect?
No matter tears or laughter ,they are always there with you
They wake you up from your sleep
And they give you birth from their womb
They weep and sweep in front of you
But you don’t know what that can do.
life is a train

Life is a train, that gets faster every day,
No time to think, no time to play.
Hurry, chaos, lots of stress,
Tension leads to sleeplessness
When will this madness cease?
Where is the free time? where is peace?
I am running, doing, till I drop!
Give me a remote, pause, mute, STOP!
