Year 9 Identity Poetry - Term 2 2022

Using Alex Dang's What kind of Asian are you? as inspiration, Year 9 created poems discussing their individual identity and how they have been stereotyped. The use of repetition and questioning structure emulate Dang's work and could make for an interesting performance. Each poem includes at least five types of poetic devices we have studied over the last two weeks. Can you identify them in your peers' work?

Discrimination is extremely nasty

And prejudice is really ghastly

both work together to demolish the nation

and ruin all relations

however, equality is an incredible thing

it gives us peace, shine and bling

if we are filled with live and kindness

then soon we shall lose our niceness
